My New Blog: http://theyoungcook.wordpress.com

12 08 2007

Hi guys,

I have a new blog up, called The Young Cook, it’s for us young professionals who lack the time but enjoy home-cooking we grew up on. When lured into the realm of fast-food and high-sodium instant food, there are actually tricks on how to make do of pantry staples that will give you nutritious everyday meals. We really do need to stop counting the carbs, calories and quantities of sugar. Go for quality in food that spoils later, meaning there are less chemicals in them. Busy schedules? Too tired to cook? No shopping time? Spare the headache and fire up your kitchen with your Young Cook skills!

See ya!

I am a Longcat LoLcat

26 07 2007

Longcat

71% Affectionate, 31% Excitable, 48% Hungry

Got this score from the ever-popular blogsite, http://icanhascheezburger.com/and I am no feline-lover, but this is totally cool, I love the cats. I had a cat only once, he was a stray one so I picked him up and took him home, he still lives with my parents and even if I had wanted him here, it is bad for the coming baby. Anyway, I’m posting here temporarily, some pictures that are just way adorable.

That’s all for now, watch out for my new blog coming out. This site remains alive as our contact central guys, and I am glad to have shared it with all of you. Tomorrow will be the big night, I wish for all the best, though I am afraid that my anxieties are taking the best of me. I hope everything will be alright.

We Need You!

18 07 2007

Yes, You!

Take your pick kung anong section ang gusto nyo. Plis plis plis. I suggest you start from the last page ng yearbook then paakyat, kasi nagsimula ako sa harap.

2: Kitchen Staff

We will need cooks and waiters (you). We will need you to be there earlier, like after lunch, except sa mamamalengke kasi wala na silang aabutang fresh kung tanghali sila gigising (sacrifice).

3: Decoratorshttp://giropolis.dyndns.org/blog/files/20060323-chef.jpg

We need a tarpaulin banner and mga parang confetti na nakasabit pag fiesta.

4: General Assistants

Thanks, guys! Lahat ng maitutulong nyo will be so much appreciated. Thanks 10000000x.

Ciao!

David Tutera High School Inspirations

16 07 2007

One of my favorite shows on TV is this program called Party Planner with David Tutera. It’s a show where he, as a party planner, organizes the most fabulous parties with really cool party ideas. I have picked up a thing or two from him, like how to whip up really good finger food en classe and making great centerpieces for that special intimate dinner.

The image “http://dlsweddingplanner.files.wordpress.com/2006/11/davidtutera_bio.jpg?w=156&h=207” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.  David Tutera, Party Planner

I have chanced upon an episode where he had to organize a 20th year reunion for his own highschool. I can imagine how he must have felt, because he says he has been a party planner for 20 years now, and he wants no less for his very own highschool!

It was interesting seeing David do something which was kind of “personal”… straight off the bat, he had some very clever ideas: dress up the bland hotel ballroom in the school colors (long swathes of materials in blue and white draped the room), use a chain-link fence (very school!) but jazz it up with martini glasses which actually hold floating candles, and blow up their class photos.

And the food? Cafeteria-inspired grub. Very nice. I especially liked the use of school supplies for table decorations.

Every episode of Party Planner with David Tutera has David taking his leave once the party gets into full swing. But this time round, he stayed! And you got to see his high school picture (he looks the same) and meet the people he went to school with.

I hope we will get to that point in time where one of us becomes a David Tutera and organizes our 10th or 20th year reunion. It will be so cool to have that sort of party. For the meanwhile, we must content ourselves with the usual inuman and pulutan. Fabulosa!

Rocksteddy- Co Alumni!

10 07 2007

Got this scoop from Abraham’s blog: http://bambam.co.nr/ and I thought it would be cool to share. Teddy of Rocksteddy went to Lagro ES and HS! The 4 other members of his band are also from our small quaint neighborhood (well, in most of cases, adoptive neighborhood because others like me come from Dela Costa, Caloocan, or even as far as Sandigan or San Jose Del Monte). They are “suki” to a lot of TV shows who use their songs, acting stints for Teddy with Richard Gutierrez and also the constant raving of Kris Aquino about this band. If it wasn’t for my husband’s love of current Pinoy bands which is totally not my tune, I would not have known about them. And thanks to my husband’s incessant love for this type of music that I can’t believe I am singing these when I hear them. The repetition did something bad to me that I unconsciously memorize band songs by memory. Why bad? Because I sing it to my son instead of nursery rhymes, and lullabies. The lines go as “Heto na ang pinakahihintay natin.. Heto na tayo magkayakap sa dilim.. O kay sarap ng mga nakaw na sandali.. Habang tayo’y magkayakap sa dilim..” What the heck, should I really be singing that to the baby? Baka bigla na lang manghila yun ng kalaro nya sa dilim, because the song said so. Bawat patak.. Anong sarap… Ano ba talaga’ng mas gusto mo.. And beer na to o ang pag-ibig ko”… No, no, no!!

The image “http://www.pinoymusiclyrics.com/images/albums/rocksteddy/rocksteddy.jpg” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.

Well, sinu-sino pa ba mga famous people from Lagro and surrounding areas?

- Annalyn Jomeo a.k.a. Whoopskiri girl of Fruitcake. She is now singing Koreanovela soaps, she made about 5 cuts in 4 Endless Love albums. (I am not sure whether the title is Kailanman), she worked with Andrew E. on a track, and some group named Kawago and Noah’s Art or whatever that is..

- Miriam Quiambao - she’s not from LHS but she sang for the church choir and lives in Dulo

http://www.fortunecity.com/meltingpot/covent/615/uni99660.jpg

- Buddy - I never knew his real name, we just know him as Buddy from Tara Jing Potpot

- Diana Zubiri (from Dela Costa)- she used to ride her scooter around the subdivision habang iniiwasan ang tae at mga batang palaboy

http://philippines.macalua.com/diana_zubiri.jpg

- Vhong Navarro- not from LHS nor Lagro or from the area, but used to hang out a lot because of Diana

http://www.titikpilipino.com/images/news/vhong_don_romantiko.jpg

- Marvel Julian- Single Season 1 Male Winner- Counterpart ni Asia Agcaoili, kapatid ni Joseph Julian

- Occasional TV guestings of drug deals and frat rapes in Correspondents, etc.

- Rodelia Andutan- however bad her last name smells, he actually sang the theme song in the Mexican soap, Allondra, which was a hit because the leading man was so ugly and she was as pretty as Goldilocks. Rodelia graduated about 2 years earlier than us, I think.

Not bad, I don’t even have a story and yet, there still seems a lot of people who visit this site. And to think this is just the LHS people! We should all seriously consider a career in blogging.

HOPE TO HEAR (meaning your payments) FROM YOU SOON!

REASONS…

8 07 2007

A blessed day to everyone! I just want to voice out some opinions (from a group of concerned people) regarding why others are hesitant or don’t want to attend the reunion.

First is that there are batch mates that are still studying, others are undergraduate and some has stopped going to school. I know some of these people think that their situation degrades them from others who have graduated or is now working. They think that they are very far behind to those who are now successful in their careers. They think that they haven’t achieved anything yet and that they don’t want to be compared with people who are already on the next stage of their life. All I can say is that STOP thinking that way. Each of us is unique. We are competing with nobody. So don’t compare yourself with others because you are not like them and don’t be downgraded to those who look down to you. Don’t be intimidated by them. You make your own future, your own destiny, not them. You have unparalleled talents, skills and abilities that others don’t have. YOU HAVE YOUR OWN LIFE. You have your own purpose. Stop comparing yourself with others and start living your own life. I know we can’t avoid the “kumustahan” part and questions like, “san ka na nagwo-work?” or “ano na mga pinagkakaabalahan mo?” We can’t prevent these inevitable questions from being asked. So what should we do? We just have to answer truthfully. Be proud of yourself. Be confident. Don’t be affected to what other people might say or think. Just as long as you are doing your life’s purpose here on earth and pleasing God, then there’s nothing to be ashamed of. Just always look at the bright side of life.

Second, there are those people who don’t want to see their schoolmates because they are not successful yet. What I mean is, gusto nila na pag nagpakita na sila ay ‘yung mayaman na sila, mataas na position nila sa work, etc… it’s alright to dream to be rich or to have a high position in your chosen career but just don’t let it get into your head (baka magka-hydrocephalus kayo nyan…just kiddin’) seriously now, ‘pag nakaabot na kayo sa ganung punto, just stay humble. You’ll see that there will be more blessings if you stay humble (syempre dapat i-share nyo din blessings nyo).

Third, there are some who are afraid to come out because they’ve made some mistakes (big mistakes) in their life (had pre-marital sex, got STD from PMS, got rehabilitated because of drug addiction or alcoholism, already have a baby at an early age and is still unmarried, already a single parent, etc) What I can tell to these persons is that it’s okay to come out. Everybody makes mistakes. God allows these things to happen for us to learn. You should not be ashamed of it. Everything has a purpose. Nothing comes as an accident. If it’s meant to happen, it will happen. WHAT’S IMPORTANT IS THAT YOU’VE LEARNED FROM THOSE MISTAKES AND YOU WOULD NEVER REPEAT IT AGAIN.

We (the Lagronians) would understand your situation. We are all grown-ups now. We’re matured persons. We’re about to enter (or have entered) the early adulthood stage and we are here to support you. So please come to the reunion. We would love to see you.

Lastly, to the batch mates who are busy with their work, I understand you. All I ask is that if you really want to come to this reunion, please make an effort. If you can’t pay because you don’t have any time to deposit, just text our contact numbers. We’ll do our best to meet up with you and receive your payments. Remember, to be able to make this reunion happen, WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT! (spiritual, emotional, physical, financial and other kinds of support that you can think).

Thank you for giving your time to read this. All from batch 2003 of LHS is welcome (to those who are in other sections, please don’t be intimidated by those who are in the higher sections. Pantay-pantay tayong lahat dito. I really hope many people would come. Don’t you miss your high school days? Don’t you just love to reminisce those good old times? Just keep in touch. SEE YOU AT THE REUNION! God bless and bless God!

-Israel

Bakit Hindi Pwede na sa Venue na lang Magbayad

20 06 2007

Black and White Yearbook Memories

19 06 2007

Since leaving my parents’ house, I never thought I’d see my yearbook again! It’s dirty, creased, torn and has detached pages, pero buhay pa. Ribo and guess what, Father Charlie (remember our 1st Friday masses, guys?) I also fondly remember our principal Mrs. Evangelista, and lahat na rin ng teachers na pinagdaanan natin. It’s been like 4 years too, since I’ve last seen this yearbook, and I am totally blown away by the things I remember from people.

Remember the Teachers’ Quarters per department? God, I really wonder why the government can’t give them a really good salary and a decent office.

Yung PEHM Department, headed by, gosh, Mr. Austria (does that ring a bell?) and the athletic teachers like Mrs. Ong (my fave), Mrs. De Sagun, Mrs. Ayende, Sir Ruta, Sir Palero, Mrs. Alberto, etc, were situated at that bodega place behind the Admin office.

The Science and Tech Sosi Group has heir little, as in really little office to fit all 22 of them along with their notebooks, gadgets (!?!?), investigatory projects, experiment materials, workbooks and all those posters made during the Science week.

It wasn’t made for humas.

Hehe. I rarely go there, natuklasan ko lang yun nung 3rd year na yata ako.

T.H.E. Dept. — Favorite ko rin to cos madami silang pakulo and pakontest. Special thanks to Mrs. Abrajano (dami magpakopya sa board!), Mr. Santos a.k.a. Poknat ng mga nagwe-welding, Mr. Estremera the Breaktime, Sir Raon the Chikiboy and Mrs. Ortiz-Ruiz na mabait kasi kahit hindi computer elective ko nun, pinapagamit nya ko. I can still smell the pangkulot, pangpedicure at baking nila dati, pati pag fe-french tip. Aliw!tanda

Then, sa portion naman ng studes, parang may kluming-kling sa tenga ko, it’s so nice to look at those young faces. Some of the people here, I still see around, at hindi ko naman sinasadya pero minsan nasasabi ko, “Wow! Lumaki ka na! Ang tanda nya na tingnan no? Di ba dati ganito ka lang kaliit?” Hindi ko naiisip na ako din pala lumaki. Hehe.

And also now I realized how expensive this yearbook is. Magkano nga pala binayad natin dun? Was it 350 pesos? And it’s not even pretty… You can buy Witch for 85 pesos and Cosmo for 120 pesos, all glossy pages.

I promise I will never lose my yearbook again.
